Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) headquarters was built in the 1920s and was previously known as the Sears Roebuck Building. What is now known as the DCCCD headquarters is made up of a four-story office building, courtyard area, and cotton gin building.

After being unoccupied and unmaintained for many years, the building had numerous interior concrete spalls, years of exposed concrete and metal lintels that were deteriorating, a roof that was comparable to Swiss cheese, and 88-year-old wax-based sealants at all key waterproofing joints.

Due to the nature of the building, repairs had to follow strict historical guidelines and had to be made while under a strict construction schedule. The repairs included under-slab concrete patching repairs; injected epoxy at structural concrete cracks; spandrel-beamed concrete patching repairs; interior wall and floor sealer; cementitious waterproofing; replacement of all broken or damaged brick; tuck pointing exterior brick and stone; rebuilt parapet walls using existing brick and salvaged brick; removal of paint and roofing material; and masonry infill at doors and windows.

The project, as much as possible, was to be fast-tracked, and the resulting repairs were to be not only structurally sound but also uniform, matching the original materials as close as possible in color and finish. Not only were these goals met, but the project was also completed on time, on budget, with zero accidents, and zero lost time. The project goal of quality, safety, and productivity was achieved.
