Park Place Roof Deck Ramp

The Park Place high-rise, multifamily residential building on the north side of Chicago, Illinois, is attached to a 155,000 square feet (14,000 square meters) garage, which was built in 1969 and consists of two levels of parking. This project involved the expansion of the garage in order to provide additional parking for an otherwise overcrowded facility. This was done by utilizing the roof level of the garage and providing a new internal ramp to connect the second level of the garage to the new area of roof level parking. Complexities of this project included the shoring and construction of the new ramp over an operative existing ramp, and the demolition of a portion of the post-tensioned roof deck slab over the operating ramp while maintaining the capacity of the post-tensioned roof deck slab in other areas.
