Although
repair of concrete on a new structure is not uncommon, the
extent of the problems in this three-story major addition to
the company’s corporate office during its construction made
total demolition one of the options actually considered. Since
all the concrete was to be exposed in the finished building,
an architecturally-pleasing appearance as well as integrity
were important in the repairs necessary to bring the structure
to an acceptable condition for use. Dry-mix shotcrete was the
chosen material, and meticulous attention to detail in
preparation and placement provided the owner with a finished
product that has served well since 1989 and promises to be a
permanent asset to their headquarters complex.
