The
500-slip pier and boat dock on this municipal water reservoir in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, had fallen into disrepair, since little had
been done to maintain its integrity and appearance. A restoration
program was performed from fall to spring, allowing crews to take
advantage of lowered water levels, but presenting the challenge of
completion without interruption to the seasonal functioning of the
structure. Microsilica shotcrete and a polymer-modified,
cement-based, waterproof coating were the primary materials used on
the project. Although the anticipated quantities nearly doubled, the
project was completed safely and on time, earning high praise from
the boat-owner’s association.
